Australia Day was on Saturday. Heard the airplane contingent fly
over my apartment! 
Didn't get to see them though. 
BUT... I saw the fireworks at Southbank from a huge window in my
ward that night. 
Tried to take photos with my mobile phone but
they're not good enough. 
Today's Bank Day.
A few of us have worked out that we don't really earn more if we
work on a public holiday, so I'm staying home today! 
We're supposedly paid double rate if we work on PH,
BUT, even if we don't work on PH, we get a day's pay anyways. It's
really weird! In the end, whether you work on a PH or not, you
STILL get paid for six days' wages in that week, so what's the
point? Might as well not work!
If we really wanted the money, don't work today in our permanent
job, but go pick up an agency nursing or nurse bank assignment, and
we'll end up with THREE DAYS' pay or more, for one day's work!
